TELUS Day of Service

TELUS Day of Service provides opportunities for team members to give back to their communities alongside their family, friends and coworkers on a special day devoted to volunteerism. It is a high-profile demonstration of our involvement and commitment to give where we live. We held the third annual TELUS Day of Service on Saturday, May 31, 2008. We chose the environment as our theme, as we did in 2007.

• 8,600 team members, retirees, family and friends gave an average of three hours of their personal time in 2008 – up from 6,000 in 2007 – benefiting 137 charities
• They participated in 210 activities in 23 regions across Canada and recorded 26,000 volunteer hours in just one day
• Team members participating represented 13 per cent of our total Canadian workforce.

Since its inception in 2006, TELUS Day of Service has mobilized team members, retirees, family and friends to volunteer at 600 TELUS-organized activities benefiting the communities where we live, work and serve.

Our target for 2008 was to increase participation by five per cent, which we surpassed. In 2008, 8,600 people participated in the TELUS Day of Service, which represents a 33 per cent increase over 2007. Our target for 2009 is to increase team member participation by five per cent.
